Victory In Europe Day, also known as VE Day, marks the formal acceptance of Nazi Germany's surrender. This is marked by the May Day bank holiday in the UK, which is usually on a Monday. However, as this year marks the 75th anniversary, May Day has been moved to Friday 8th May (its actual anniversary date). Whilst planned celebrations have been postponed due to the current restrictions, we share some images from VE Day that capture the jubilation of a country in the midst of a spontaneous celebration.
